Understanding CPAP Compliance

What It Means for You

When you start CPAP therapy, Medicare and most insurance companies want to make sure the treatment is really helping you. That’s why they follow a rule called “CPAP Compliance.”

Here’s what it means

During your first 90 days, you need to use your CPAP machine for at least 4 hours a night on 70% of nights—that’s about 21 nights out of 30.

  • Your doctor also needs to note that you’re feeling better or sleeping better.

  • achieving this goal shows that you’re benefiting from therapy—and helps to keep your insurance in covering your CPAP machine and supplies.
